Many people and institutions have been affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Because of social distancing, people can no longer meet and celebrate birthdays, graduations, and funerals as they used to.
Gabrielle Pierce, a college senior, was upset that after four years, she wouldn’t be able to graduate from Xavier University in Louisiana.
But, her father, Torrence Burson, was not going to let the pandemic kill his daughter’s dream of having a proper graduation ceremony.
So he set up a graduation stage in his driveway, dressed up in graduation attire, and held their graduation ceremony at home.
“After all those years, you’re going to walk across somebody’s stage if I have to build you one myself,” “I went to bed and woke up in the middle of the night and said, ‘that’s it. I’m just going to have the graduation here.” Burson told FOX13.
“We love our daughter this much,” he said. “Regardless of the dollar figure, what it took to pull this off. If I had to do this over again, I’d probably do it even bigger.” Burson continued.
We are sure Gabrielle enjoyed her special day. Thanks to her super-dad for pulling out all the stops to make sure his daughter had the best graduation during this difficult time.
Congrats to all 2020 Graduates!
