12-year-old, Demetrius Townsel Jr. was shot to death on Saturday, May 16, 2020.
According to reports, Demetrius and his twin brother, Darius, were in the car when a gunman opened fire. Demetrius was hit, leaving his twin brother trying to save his life. Darius held his brother and applied pressure on the gun wound while they rush to the hospital.
Police have not yet reported on whether an arrest has been made.
On Monday, May 18, Family members came together to mourn and ask for help finding his killer.
Catherine Brown, Demetrius’ mother, made a personal plea to his son’s killer.
“I can’t hold my baby anymore, please turn yourself in,” She said.
“He’s the funniest dude I ever know, picked everybody up, made them laugh,” Darius said.
“I was a victim of gun violence myself. The first time I got shot, I was 12 years old. It makes me more determined to find out who did this to him,” Demetrius’ stepfather Lenearl Lightfoot said.
As per reports, there is a $2,000 reward to anyone who helps locate the killer. Anyone with information to call 1-800-U-TELL-US (1-800-883-5587).
Tragedies like this make you wonder when our country is going to tackle the issue of gun violence once and for all.
